  1. Hi everyone,

We know that curriculum can be vieweed from various perspecitives including curriculum as content, as a process or as a product. Which perspective is held by Outcome-based Education (OBE)?

  2. Those who are interested in content will focus on content,
those interested in what happens within the system will focus
on the processes used to organize, control and deliver education and training. Those
interested in outcomes will focus on the products or results of education.
All aspects of education are important and that quality should not be judged
    from any narrow perspective.
However, to my opinion, more attention should be on the outcome so that the return could be evaluated

  3. in my opinion, OBE (outcome based education) is based on perspective of curriculum as a product. In this perspective, all students are well equipped with the knowledge, skills and values to function effectively and efficiently. On seeing the OBE, the purpose of OBE is to ensure that all the students are eqipped with the knowledge, competence and qualities needed to be successful after they exit the education system. For this reason, I think that OBE held curriculum as a product perspective.

    1. I do agree with Khin opinion that curriculum can be viewed as product in Outcome-based education (OBE) where it will be develop in the perspectives of students needs and wants. But it also can be as a process. If we look and read the curriculum briefly, we will see the progressiveness of imparting the knowledge and prepare the students for the future where they will be introduced to the fundamentals of the programme from zero knowledge until they feel confident to apply it in their life. It usually contains of three domains which are cognitive, affective and psychomotor.Besides that the curriculum also needs to fulfill the current technologies and environment contextual. Therefore, it will increase the interest of learning among the students.

  4. For my view, OBE (Outcome Based Education) is a process of education for the students to achieve the their outcome.
OBE had the two keys aims :
(1 ) Ensure all learners are successful in that they are equipped with the knowledge, skills and qualities (values and attitudes) required after they exit the educational system.
(2)Achieve and maximize selected outcomes for all students by structuring and operating education facilities to be success oriented. (Spady 1994 )

Outcomes based education (OBE) is a process that involves the restructuring of curriculum, assessment and reporting practices in education to reflect the achievement of high order learning and mastery rather than the accumulation of course credits” (Tucker, 2004).
Thus the primary aim of OBE is to facilitate desired changes within the learners, by increasing knowledge, developing skills and/or positively influencing attitudes, values and judgment.
OBE embodies the idea that the best way to learn is to first determine what needs to be achieved. Once the end goal (product or outcome) has been determined the strategies, processes, techniques, and other ways and means can be put into place to achieve the goal.
Schwartz and Cavener (1994) referred to OBE as acquisition of knowledge, skills, values and attitudes expected of an individual to demonstrate in a given situation at the end of a learning process.
That is OBE focuses on the processes necessary for learners to achieve these outcomes.

  5. In my opinion, I do agree with Khin and Anis because OBE/OBL whereby all school programs and institutional efforts are designed to have product specific, lasting results in students by the time the leave school and go the job. Lecturer has hard work years by years and expect in other words is forced to do many things they do not do in the past but currently they are being asked to do in very different ways for the students.. The purpose of OBE is to guarantee on ensure the students are getting knowledge and more competence and progressive well till they are graduated from university and able to stand on their feet. Teacher and lecturers today are expected to do more things and must develop competencies, integrate theory and practice, facilitate and design leaving programs and make courses responsive. Therefore for this reason OBE will help the interest and desires of effective learning among students. The rapid change characteristics in society for if you read the newspaper regularly you will notice that education (both technical- vocational and general schooling) and its main audience- young people face more challenges today. So, let work together for the better generation.

  6. Simulation is one of outcome based learning.Simulations are control representation of reality. They are exercises that learners engage in to learn about the real world without the risks of the real world. They also can be lot of fun.Simulation also can be categorised into games, role playing and case studies.Simulation can be intended for outcome based learning.Decisionn making skill also can be fostered in this method.
